Does anyone know what this movie is?

I was a kid when I watched it, and my memories are really vague...*quite* sure it was a feature-length movie. Might be Jim Henson related. All I can recall is that it was roughly about this boy from a broken family, not on good terms with his father whom I think was a fisherman - and this child had a plush dinosaur who was alive, at least in his mind. One scene I remember is when he opened a refridgerator, and a ton of fish fell out. It's driving me nuts, if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it!
