Is there a glaring double standard amongst the enlightenment regarding epistemology in relation to metaphysics?

We don't ask people to prove everything they say to us is true because many things are generally accepted to be true. You might not have been to India, but many other people have. If you wanted to test the hypothesis that India existed, you could go there for yourself. But some claims have never been substantiated. If you want to claim something that no one has ever shown to be true, then you must support that claim. You don't have to accept it when we tell you there are galaxies. You can see them for yourself. You can even measure the distance to them knowing some basic physics. You can find all the evidence for the beginning of the universe in the papers published about it and reproduce their tests to come to the same conclusion.
