Why is my sound crackling on Fruity Loops?

I just got Fruity Loops brand new and for some weird reason the sound is really strange, it's crackly and you can't hear the song properly, let alone every time a beat hits, it crackles in sound. Please help me out, I have no clue how to even work FL, it's FL9 by the way, and I am a singer who just wants to make my own beats. Thanks if anyone can help me out! It's probably really bloody simple lol.
